Don’t forget Westside’s Cenotaph

-

Dear editor: Each year we see the various local Remembrance services advertised from Rutland, Kelowna, Royal Le Page Place in West Kelowna down to Peachland.

The service held at the cenotaph in West Kelowna outside the community centre on Main Street is forgotten.

No one in the media seems to mention it and I have not seen pictures in the papers, either. While the dignitaries and the bulk of the populace moved inside to Royal Le Page, some people decided to continue to hold a service at the original cenotaph in West Kelowna.

The soldiers did not often have the option of moving into warmth or shelter, and we are outside for such a short time only once a year. It would be great to publicize our service as the others are publicized. Heather Yeats, West Kelowna
