Heavy-metal veterans to rock Kelowna next spring

Heavy-metal legends to be joined by Uriah Heep

One of the most successful heavy metal bands of all-time is including Kelowna on its latest tour.

Judas Priest is coming to Prospera Place on Sunday, June 16, in support of their newest album, Firepower.

Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. for the concert, which will include opening act Uriah Heep. Since the Grammy Awards introduced a metal category in 1989, Judas Priest has been nominated five times, winning for a live performanc­e of the song Dissident Aggressor in 2010.

The current line-up includes Ian Hill, a founding member from 1969, along with Rob Halford and Glenn Tipton. All three were featured on the 1982 album Screaming for Vengeance, which included the band’s biggest single You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’.

Firepower charted at No. 5 on the Billboard album charts, their highest entry to date.

Other well-known songs include Take On the World, Living After Midnight, Breaking the Law, Heading Out to the Highway and the band’s latest single, Lightning Strike.

The opening act will be Uriah Heep. The present touring line-up has been consistent since 2003 and includes founding member Mitch Box. Other members are Bernie Shaw, Phil Lanzon, Davey Rimmer and Russell Gilbrook.

Uriah Heep’s singles include Easy Livin’, Sweet Lorraine, Stealin’, Free Me and their latest single Grazed By Heaven from the 2018 studio album Living the Dream.
