Steam sting Chiefs for a 2nd time
The Summerland Steam did it again to the Kelowna Chiefs.
Mitchell Gove scored twice as the Steam stunned the Chiefs 4-3 Friday at Rutland Arena, handing Kelowna its second regulation loss in 36 games this season.
The Steam ended the Chiefs streak with a 7-2 victory in earlyDecember – also in Kelowna.
Cory Loring and Cody Swan also scored for the Steam (20-134). Myles Mattila, Kaden Stewart and Tyler Love scored for the Chiefs (31-2-3), who could have clinched the Okanagan Division pennant with a win.
Kelowna – which still hasn’t lost a road game this season — had a 39-25 edge in shots on goal, with Eric Scherger making 36 saves.
