From downtown highrise living to a large luxury single-family home, the grand-prize winner of the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation lottery will have their choice of lifestyle in Kelowna.

More than 3,200 prizes worth more than $3.8 million are up for grabs in the lottery, including luxury homes, vacations and cars.

The grand-prize winner will be able to choose from seven luxury home packages or $2.2 million in cash.

Two Kelowna homes are included in the grand-prize packages.

The first is a contemporary two-bedroom condo on the 26th floor in the 36-storey East Tower of One Water Street on Sunset Drive, overlooking Okanagan Lake.

The development is slated for completion in 2021.

The two towers that make up One Water Street will sit on a half-hectare property with outdoor pools, hot tubs and grilling areas.

“It’s effectively a private park with extensive amenities,” said Mark West, with Epic Real Estate.

Units in the East Tower went on sale in October 2017.

“We sold most of the first building within a weekend launch period. Then, six months after, we released the second tower and sold the bulk of the building as well,” said West.

The majority of people buying condos in the towers are between the ages of 55 and 65, he said.

“They’re in a larger home and their motivation is simplification, to downsize,” said West. “They want to live somewhere where they can walk everywhere.”

The One Water Street condo package also includes a four-bedroom home in South Surrey, a 2019 BMW X5 and $150,000 in cash.

The second Kelowna home up for grabs is a 2,600-square-foot home in the gated community of Country Club Estates in Quail Ridge. This package also includes a 2019 Tige Boat R20, a 2019 Range Rover Sport and $1 million in cash.

The two homes offer different lifestyles, said Erin Cebula, Choices Lottery spokesperson.

“The (Quail Ridge home) is a beautiful, luxurious home, but there’s something chic about being in the tallest tower in downtown Kelowna, steps from the water, steps from shopping,” she said. “It’s got a metropolitan vibe.”

The grand-prize winner also has the choice of homes in Vancouver, Squamish and Victoria.

While most people go for the cash option, some do take the homes, said Cebula.

“The great thing about the lottery is you have these packages that are all based on what life you want to live,” she said.

All the money raised goes to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

“Every dollar raised from the lottery is leveraged for more external fundraising, and it’s all about research,” said Cebula.

“I’ve met a lot of kids and families that have been helped by Children’s Hospital over the years, and it’s a win-win. If you don’t win, you’re winning for someone else.”

In addition to the lottery, there is also a 50/50 draw that is already up to $1.1 million.

Tickets are available online at bcchildren.com until midnight April 11.
