Golf by donation to help MS society

-

Last year, the region came out to golf by donation at Shadow Ridge Golf Club in support of the MS Society.

To champion a friend afflicted by the disease, the Kelowna golf course is offering this event again.

MS is an autoimmune disease that attacks the central nervous system. The protective sheath (myelin) that covers nerve fibres breaks down and causes communication problems between your brain and the rest of your body.

Eventually, the disease can cause the nerves themselves to deteriorate or become permanently damaged.

There’s no cure for MS. However, researchers funded by the MS Society are working to find its cause, develop better treatments and ultimately cure the disease for everyone who is affected by it.

“Last year, the community was very responsive to this event and we surpassed our fundraising goal for MS.” said James Presnail, general manager of Shadow Ridge. “We”re aiming a little higher this year and would love the community to come out and support it again.”

On Monday, beginning at 1 p.m. until close, join Shadow Ridge and Monaghan Golf Group in support of the MS Society with golf by donation. While golfers are encouraged to donate the full value of the special spring green fee, a minimum donation of $10 will be happily accepted.
