RCMP’s ERT assists with raid on Kelowna home

-

The RCMP’s emergency response team brought along its armoured vehicle for a raid on a Kelowna home Friday morning.

The ERT was backing up the RCMP Street Enforcement Unit’s drug section as it executed a search warrant just before 11:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Lawson Avenue.

“The execution of the warrant, to search the Lawson Avenue residence, prompted the temporary disruption of traffic along Gordon Drive for police and public safety,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, spokesperson for the Kelowna RCMP. “The RCMP Emergency Response Team’s armoured vehicle was used and a man was taken into police custody without incident at the scene.”

A 34-year-old Kelowna man, well known to police, faces potential charges and was kept in police custody.

The search of the home continued after the arrest.
