RISELEY, Elaine Virginia (née Berry)
September 5, 1939 - December 5, 2020 Elaine Riseley of West Kelowna, British Columbia, went to be with the Lord, passing away on December 5, 2020, peacefully at the age of 81, after a brave battle with COPD and dementia. Elaine will be dearly missed by her brother Tom (Cheryl), son Ron (Corry), daughter Kelly (Kyle), and daughter Lynn (Steve). She is predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Doug, daughter Charleen, father Tom, mother Beatrice and sister Janette. Proud grandmother to Crystal, Brendan, Joelene, Steven, Michael, Andrew, Ken, Chantel, Krystal, Nicole, Matthew and Michael; greatgrandmother to eighteen; aunt and great-aunt to dozens more. Elaine was a gentle spirit with a rebel streak, sometimes bringing her trouble, but eventually, she always committed to doing the right thing. Born in Weston, Ontario, later moving to California before returning to the Toronto area, she fell in love with the Okanagan Valley, moving here almost fifty years ago with her husband Doug. It was always a joy for family to visit them, in their mountain paradise. Elaine was a passionate animal lover, raising German Shepherds, Welsh Corgis and her favourite, Yorkshire Terriers. She was a voracious reader with a keen interest in crime and mysteries, which undoubtedly led to her career as a legal secretary. Elaine was also a tireless advocate for Hepatitis “C” survivors, who had suffered tainted blood transfusions. Those who knew her will cherish their memories of Elaine. A special thanks to close family friends Michael and Linda, who faithfully shared the journey of both Elaine and Doug, in their final years. Our family also wishes to thank the amazing staff at Brookhaven Care Centre for their love and care of Elaine, as if she was their own family. A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Today’s Choice Alternative Funeral Services, in Kelowna.
