“Movie: 1917”

This taut British combat epic from director Sam Mendes stars George MacKay and Dean-Charles Chapman as a pair of young British soldiers entrusted with delivering a vital message calling off a doomed attack by Allied forces. Roger Deakins earned an Oscar for his cinematography, which gave the impression the film was two continuous shots. George MacKay, Daniel Mays and Colin Firth are also in the enormous ensemble cast.
