Stepping up to help

Dance City Academy Tour group lending a hand in West Kelowna

- Westside Weekly

During a normal holiday season, the Dance City Academy Tour Group is out performing at community events.

This year, however, has been anything but normal. Due to COVID-19, the dancers were not only unable to perform, but to even physically get together.

Over the years, the community has generously supported the tour group, so this year the dancers wanted to show their support for the community by collecting for the food bank.

Friday evening, 20 vehicles, some decorated with lights, looped through the parking lot by the

Westside Food Bank’s Christmas depot for a COVID-friendly touchless drop off.

One by one, the vehicles stopped so each dancer could unload a box of food donations for the food bank.

Each dancer collected items from their 23 Days of Christmas list and then decorated a box to put their donations in.

The Dance City Academy Tour Group has dancers from nine to 16 years old.

Due to COVID-19, the tour group which had plans to travel next year has postponed their trip for two years.
