Blue Bombers re-sign top left tackle Bryant

WINNIPEG — Two-time CFL most outstandin­g lineman Stanley Bryant has signed a one-year extension with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Bryant returns for his sixth season in Winnipeg after originally signing in 2015.

The six-foot-five, 306-pound left tackle was the West Division’s nominee for most outstandin­g lineman for the third straight season in 2019, helping the Blue Bombers win the Grey Cup.

Bryant was named the CFL’s most outstandin­g lineman in 2017 and 2018 and has started every game since the start of the 2015 season.

Bryant spent the first five years of his career with Calgary, winning a Grey Cup in 2014.

— The Edmonton Football Club signed American defensive back Jonathan Rose and Canadian receiver Mike Jones. The six-foot-one, 190pound Rose comes to Edmonton following four seasons with the Ottawa Redblacks.

Rose was an East Division all-star in 2016 and ‘18. Jones spent the last four seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He registered 101 catches for 1,472 yards and four touchdowns.

— Linebacker Deshaun Davis and offensive lineman Cameron Jefferson both opted back into their CFL contracts, the Saskatchew­an Roughrider­s announced Monday.

Both players are Americans.

The six-foot, 235-pound Davis was a sixth-round pick of Cincinnati in the

2019 NFL draft and went on to play in four pre-season games for the Bengals.

He also spent time with Jacksonvil­le and Philadelph­ia that season. The sixfoot-five, 325-pound Jefferson returns to Saskatchew­an after spending most of 2019 on the practice roster.
