Snowmobilers keep searchers busy

-

Stranded snowmobilers are keeping Vernon Search and Rescue members busy this year.

Search and Rescue has been called out four times in the new year to reach lost or stranded people.

On Jan. 2 and 3, snowmobilers needed assistance in the Hunter’s Range, east of Enderby.

On Jan. 5, Vernon SAR had to turn over a call in the Fintry area to the Central Okanagan group, because they were busy with a snowmobiler in the Lumby area.

The calls prompted the group to put out a call through the North Okanagan RCMP urging people heading to the backcountry to go prepared with proper clothing, communications equipment and safety kits.
