A good cast elevates Nisha Ganatra’s somewhat familiar 2020 comedy-drama about a longtime personal assistant (Dakota Johnson) to a veteran R&B singer (Tracee Ellis Ross) who yearns for a career of her own as a music producer. Kelvin Harrison Jr. (“Godfather of Harlem”) co-stars as an aspiring young musician who catches her attention. Johnson’s mom, Melanie Griffith, has a cameo.
