Six-storey building OK’d for Capri area
A six-storey, 94-suite project near the Capri mall has been approved by Kelowna city council.
Approval was given Tuesday during a public hearing at which no concerns about the project were raised by members of the community or councillors.
“This is in keeping with our plan for that area,” Mayor Colin Basran said. “It’s the right thing for this area.”
The project will be built at the southwest corner of Chandler Street and Belaire Avenue, in a residential neighbourhood predominantly made up of single-family homes and duplexes.
The city’s plan for the CapriLandmark district is to triple the number of residents by encouraging medium- and high-density housing projects.
