Checking in with MISSY PEREGRYM
Danny DeVito
As she performs “FBI” duty now, Missy Peregrym also is on another case: parenthood.
The “Rookie Blue” alum missed much of the CBS drama’s second season as she and actor husband Tom Oakley welcomed their first child, Otis. She’s now back for Season 3, which has aired only two new episodes, having been delayed by the coronavirus pandemic ... but it returns with a special Sunday airing after the AFC championship football game Jan. 24, then resumes in its usual Tuesday slot two nights later.
“‘Overwhelming’ is probably the best word,” the friendly Peregrym allows of her new balance between work and family. “It’s a lot of adjustments and changes. I didn’t really consider myself a career person until I had a child, and now, work is completely different because all I’m thinking about is Otis. You’re so emotionally attached to this person, and it’s something you’ve never experienced before.”
Peregrym is grateful, therefore, to be back in the company of “FBI” co-workers she already knew well. “It would be much harder if it was a brand-new job,” she reasons. “It feels really nice to have the same team.”
Maggie Bell’s (Peregrym) return to FBI duty has been marked by her revelation to partner “OA” (Zeeko Zaki) that she is romantically involved with a colleague from her recent undercover assignment.
“I think it’s a really big deal for Maggie to have somebody in her life in a serious way,” Peregrym reflects. “Especially because of what happened to her husband (a reporter who died in a supposed car accident), she’d probably want to keep it as private as possible. There’s been some good character stuff.”
