Young people must have a say

-

DEAR EDITOR:

Re: “Nothing wrong with President Biden’s age,” (Herald letters, Feb. 5).

A short answer for my friend Joy Lang.

Old Joe Biden has been involved in American politics for close to 50 years, just look at the mess America is in, long before Donald Trump arrived on the scene.

Nothing personal Joy, but I have heard many times that young people should get involved in politics.

When old politicians hang in there with old ideas, the fact is the young, being ruled by the old, are getting old themselves.

American President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was young and popular, as was Barack Obama. Justin Trudeau is an example of what a youthful prime minister can do... but!

The beauty of an election is young voters can dump Justin and others before they themselves reach retirement age.

Many politicians with no expertise in their particular ministry, have to learn when it’s time to leave and get a real job.

I think Senators like Mike Duffy can hang in there until age 75 which is another problem that should be addressed.

When I was young I had little time for old people. Now I really like them.

Oh give me a home, where old people roam where memories of porko mistakes, still chill to the bone.
