Lloyd Wright meets Flintstone

-

DEAR EDITOR:

Re: “If council doesn’t like it, they should demand something better,” by Bob Hayes (Daily Courier letters, Feb. 4).

I couldn’t agree more with Bob Hayes in regards to the lack of inspirational building designs in Kelowna now.

I feel 20 years from now these look-a-like apartment buildings will be the ones they can hardly wait to tear down and replace with ones of more pleasing styles.

Architects, please, show some imagination and come up with more creative designs, maybe more bricks and less plywood?

Enough of the Frank Lloyd Wright meets Fred Flintstone designs.

Please mayor, councillors and planning department, don’t just rubber stamp these structures just in the name of “more housing,” have some foresight. Don’t let the developers decide how our city should look. Have some vision as to the look you want for our city.

Let’s have development that is esthetically pleasing, will look great for years to come and reflects the ambiance of Kelowna.
