South Rutland wins tech grant
South Rutland Elementary School is getting a technology upgrade.
SRE was one of 13 elementary and secondary schools across Canada awarded a Best Buy School Tech Grant.
Best Buy, in conjunction with Samsung, is awarding $128,000 — or up to $10,000 per school. The grants can be used to buy new computers and digital devices.
Impassioned pleas from teachers and principals were the key to winning the grant.
“The key to success for our recipients was the passion of the teachers and principals who outlined how much additional technology would impact their students by helping to build a foundation of tech skills that will prepare them for their future,” said Karen Arsenault, Best Buy Canada’s Social Impact Manager, in a news release.
