It’s cold in the outdoor jail
Vernon’s Winter Carnival may be winding down, but Carnival Cop Rod Koenig continues his annual quest to Arrest the Best. On Thursday, Koenig locked up Silver Star Mountain Resort spokesperson Chantelle Deacon, initially setting her bail at $500, but when he learned that her friends and co-workers had already raised $700 for Silver Star’s Pay it Forward campaign, he promptly raised the bail to $1,500. With matching funds from the resort, the total by the end of Deacon’s very chilly stay in the jail netted $3,000.
