At the Community Foundation we offer a wide variety of ways for people to donate and give back to their community, and we help individuals, organizations and charities operate and fund projects, programs and events. In essence, we are all about Giving Choices and Funding Change.

In fact, we’ve been helping donors and funding projects in the communities of the South Okanagan Similkameen for more than 30 years, granting out more than $8.6 million to various projects, programs and events that address every area of need in our communities. Many of these grants are funded by the 150+ Endowment Funds set up by donors and managed by the Foundation, with the goal to provide a stable source of funding and help ensure long-term sustainability of our communities.

Donors have many options when it comes to creating a legacy fund or giving to an existing fund. Some donors choose to create a fund in their name, in memory of a loved one, or to support a cause they care about such as youth initiatives, education, animal welfare, the environment and much more. Still others ask the Foundation to identify emerging community needs on their behalf. The choices for setting up or giving to a fund are as endless as the imagination.

Donna Schellenberg and her late husband, Harold, are legacy donors who have been longstanding supporters of the Foundation and the community. Donna created a legacy fund in honour of her late son, Vance.
