Cascade Peaks ChamberFest drops lineup and repetoire
A serene resort near Princeton will be hosting a showcase of classical musical on the first weekend of summer.
RockRidge Canyon Resort and its 350-seat venue will be the home of Cascade Peaks ChamberFest, according to a media release from the event. It’s being presented by the Langley Community Music School, and will feature guest artist faculty the Borealis String Quartet, who will be performing works by Beethoven, Brahms, Dvořák, Gilliand, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Ravel, and Schubert, including the latter composer’s Cello Quintet in C Major, D. 956.
Composer-in-residence Marcel Bergmann is excited to share a newly commissioned piece.
“Joining the Borealis String Quartet as faculty guest artists will be violinist Jonathan Crow, concertmaster of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, cellist Roman Borys, founding member of the Gryphon Trio, Juno award-winning clarinetist James Campbell, and pianist Libby Yu, member of the renowned Aurora Piano Trio,” the release says.
“Accomplished young musicians on track for becoming Canada’s next generation of professional concert artists” will also be playing at the festival.
