Plaque com­mem­o­rat­ing late fire chief stolen

The Tim­mins Po­lice Ser­vice is cur­rently in­ves­ti­gat­ing the theft of a com­mem­o­ra­tive plaque stolen from the Schu­macher Fire Hall lo­cated at 7 Les Hall St. in Schu­macher.

The Tim­mins Po­lice Ser­vice is aware that some­time be­tween 10 a.m. on Sun­day and noon on Tues­day, un­known sus­pects at­tended at the Schu­macher Fire Hall and re­moved the “Ge­orge Delich” com­mem­o­ra­tive plaque from the out­side wall.

“The stolen item com­mem­o­rates the years of self­less and ded­i­cated ser­vice of the late Ge­orge Delich of Schu­macher,” po­lice stated in its re­lease.

“This stolen item is of sig­nif­i­cant value to the cur­rent and for­mer mem­bers of the Schu­macher Fire Hall.”

The plaque is made of grey gran­ite that has been laser etched with a pic­ture im­age of Delich in his Schu­macher Fire Depart­ment for­mal uni­form as well as some bi­o­graph­i­cal in­for­ma­tion and a “ghost” im­age of Delich at a fire scene.

The Tim­mins Po­lice Ser­vice is seek­ing the pub­lic’s as­sis­tance with this on­go­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
