Kap pair charged with drug traf­fick­ing

MATH­E­SON — Two Ka­puskas­ing men are fac­ing nu­mer­ous charges af­ter On­tario Pro­vin­cial Po­lice were called to in­ves­ti­gate a traf­fic com­plaint on High­way 11 south of Math­e­son on the week­end.

It was not re­vealed what the spe­cific traf­fic com­plaint was about.

Po­lice in­ves­ti­gated the sit­u­a­tion and as a re­sult, re­ported that two males were ar­rested and taken into cus­tody.

As a re­sult of their in­ves­ti­ga­tion po­lice said 35-year-old Michael Riopel and 24-year-old Denny Fil­ion are charged with sev­eral of­fences.

Po­lice said Riopel is charged with the fol­low­ing:

• Traf­fick­ing sched­ule I sub­stance - metham­phetamines (crys­tal meth), con­trary to sec­tion 5(1) of the Con­trolled Drugs and Sub­stances Act (CDSA) - two counts;

• Traf­fick­ing sched­ule I sub­stance - co­caine, con­trary to sec­tion 5(1) of the CDSA;

• Traf­fick­ing sched­ule III sub­stance - other drugs, con­trary to sec­tion (5)(1) of the CDSA;

• Pos­ses­sion of a sched­ule I sub­stance - co­caine, con­trary to sec­tion 4(1) of the CDSA;

• Pos­sess­ing cannabis for the pur­pose of sell­ing, con­trary to sec­tion 10(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA);

• Pos­ses­sion of il­licit cannabis, con­trary to sec­tion 8(1)(b) of the CA;

• Dan­ger­ous oper­a­tion of a mo­tor ve­hi­cle, con­trary to sec­tion 249(1) of the Crim­i­nal Code (CC);

• Flight while pur­sued by peace of­fice, con­trary to sec­tion 249.1(1) of the CC;

• Re­sist peace of­fi­cer, con­trary to sec­tion 129(a) of the CC;

• Pos­ses­sion prop­erty ob­tained by crime un­der $5,000, con­trary to sec­tion 354(1) of the CC;

• Fail to com­ply with re­cog­ni­zance, con­trary to sec­tion 145(3) of the CC;

• Fail to com­ply with pro­ba­tion or­der, con­trary to sec­tion 733.1(1) of the CC; and

• Dan­ger­ous oper­a­tion of a mo­tor ve­hi­cle, con­trary to sec­tion 249(1) of the Crim­i­nal Code (CC).

Po­lice re­ported riopel was be­ing held in cus­tody pend­ing the out­come of a bail hear­ing.

Charges were also filed against Fil­ion as fol­lows:

• Traf­fick­ing sched­ule III sub­stance - other drugs, con­trary to sec­tion (5)(1) of the Con­trolled drugs and sub­stances act (Cdsa);

• Traf­fick­ing sched­ule I sub­stance - other drugs, con­trary to sec­tion 5(1) of the Cdsa;

• Traf­fick­ing sched­ule I sub­stance - co­caine, con­trary to sec­tion 5(1) of the Cdsa;

• Traf­fick­ing sched­ule I sub­stance -me th am­phet­a­mines( crys­tal meth), con­trary to sec­tion 5(1) of the Cdsa;

• Pos­ses­sion of il­licit cannabis, con­trary to sec­tion 8(1)(b) of the Cannabis act (Ca);

• Pos­ses­sion for the pur­pose of dis­tribut­ing, con­trary to sec­tion 9(2) of the Ca; and

• Pos­ses­sion prop­erty ob­tained by crime un­der $5,000, con­trary to sec­tion 354(1) of the Crim­i­nal Code.

Po­lice said Fil­ion was re­leased af­ter a bail hear­ing and is sched­uled to ap­pear at the on­tario Court of Jus­tice on Nov. 27, 2018 in Tim­mins.
