Reminder about overnight parking

The Daily Press (Timmins) - - NEWS -

One of the realities of this time of year is that it won’t be long before the snow flies and the roads in Timmins are snow covered for the most part.

The other reality is that it means city motorists are being advised not to park on city streets overnight between the hours of 11:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. from Nov. 1 through to April 30.

A news release from city hall said motorists could be subject to a $50 fine along with possible towing charges, unless you are in an area exempt from the winter parking ban, in which case, signs would be posted stating such.

In addition, Timmins public works still carries out snow removal during daylight hours and when that is the case, red and yellow signs will be posted on the streets where snow removal is underway. As with overnight parking, vehicles will be tagged with a $50 ticket and could be towed away at the owner’s expense.

City hall is also advising vehicle owners not to expect a knock at the door to advise of any winter road maintenance. The posted signs will be considered sufficient notice. Residents are advised to watch for the red and yellow signs throughout the winter.
