The new youth Wellness hub organization in Timmins has earned more community support.

united Way centraid North east Ontario (uWcNeO) announced on Wednesday it is providing $10,000 in funding to the local youth organization which began earlier this year.

The Timmins youth Wellness hub provides support, mentorship, mental health counselling and even life skills coaching for young people in the city.

The funding announcement came from Jennifer Gorman, the united Way manager for the cochrane and Timiskaming districts.

“uWcNeO believes in a community where children and youth have the opportunities to reach their potential,” said Gorman at the science Timmins venue where the announcement was made.

“ensuring that resources and opportunities are available locally to help youth build resiliency, selfesteem

and a sense of belonging are essential. The youth Wellness hub was co-created for youth, by youth,” said Gorman.

“it is a place where everyone is welcome and will continue to grow and evolve based on feedback from youth,” she added.

she said the announcement from uWcNeO is made possible thanks to community support in Timmins. she mentioned a charity hockey game involving the sudbury Wolves and the rouyn-Noranda huskies held in september that caused a lot of excitement.

“The revenue generated from that game is now being invested back into our community,” said Gorman.
