Charges with­drawn

Charges have been with­drawn against a for­mer chief ad­min­is­tra­tive of­fi­cer for the Town of Ka­puskas­ing, who was one of two men ac­cused of bilk­ing the mu­nic­i­pal­ity of $ 800,000. Sud­bury Crown At­tor­ney Marc Huneault con­firmed Thurs­day charges against Yvan Brousseau were with­drawn ear­lier this week. An­other out- of- town Crown is deal­ing with the charges against the co- ac­cused Karl Hol­lett.

Both men were charged with fraud over $ 5,000.

The of­fenses were al­leged to have oc­curred dur­ing a pe­riod be­tween Sep­tem­ber 2014 and Fe­bru­ary 2015 when Brousseau held the po­si­tion of chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer of Én­ergie Ka­puskas­ing En­ergy, which was wholly owned by the town, and Hol­lett, was the owner of a so­lar panel com­pany con­tracted by the Town of Ka­puskas­ing.
