Horse injured in collision with truck
A horse was injured in a collision with a pickup truck near Teeterville this week.
The crash occurred on Windham Road 6 around 6 p.m. Monday.
Police report a 49-year- old Norfolk man was westbound in a pickup truck when the horse ran onto the roadway in front of him.
The truck was extensively damaged while the horse suffered an injured rear leg.
“It is not always possible to avoid a collision with an animal, particularly if it suddenly runs onto the road,” Const. Ed Sanchuk of the Norfolk OPP said in a news release.
“But drivers can take sensible precautions to minimize the risk of a collision. Motorists are being urged to drive with caution and within the speed limit and to be aware of their surroundings at all times. Predictable is preventable. Make safety your priority.”
