Hand Hills Grapevine
Hello Hand Hills…well we knew that it could not last and that old man winter would return. We had a mix of snow and rain that amounted to about ¼” of moisture. Some areas got more moisture than right here in the Hills. Here’s hoping that the trees survive the cold snap as they are budded out way ahead of time. Moisture is welcome and more is needed.
Betty Ann Moench have and been Murray enjoying their new granddaughter for quite some time now as this bundle of joy was born back in October. This is number five for them. Proud parents are Heather and Scott Campbell of Delburne. Kendiss Ann is a little sister for Cooper. Congratulations to Joyce Moench and Betty Pincombe on their great-granddaughter.
Congratulations to Raymond and Judy Sieppert who celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary a couple of weeks ago. The Hand Hills wishes you many more years of happiness.
Please phone Jacquie Galster if you can help with the following. The Club is looking for a group who would like to do Security for Hand Hills Lake Stampede on June 4. We need about 15 people from 8pm-2am. You will be paid for your service. Phone Jacquie at 403-820-2604.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Glenn Burt on his passing. Glenn was a brother to Bernice Cosgrave, of Drumheller and Ken Burt of Craigmyle. The Hand Hills sends Sympathy to Murray Burt and Lindsay Burt on the passing of their father. Our Condolences goes to all the family.
The Ball Diamond is completed and hats off to all of the young guys and girls who did all of the work. The equip- ment they had at their disposal was amazing and it was all donated. From cleaning up the old diamond right down to getting the grass seeded. they completed the work in less than three weeks. What an asset this diamond is going to be in the Hills! But more importantly what an asset the young group of volunteers is. We tip our hats to you! John Rew has been a big sponsor of this diamond and like so many times before, John has shown his true community spirit thru volunteering, equipment and man power. Hand Hills is so lucky and thankful for this. Brandon Cuddie and Tommy Vredegoor have worked for years for John and the tools they have learned from working at Craigmyle Oilfield made them the perfect candidates for heading up this Ball Diamond project. Thank you John! The Tournament is set for June 10-12 and to date there are 14 teams entered. There is still time to get your team in as they are looking for 16 teams.
Blake Morton and Alisha Minchau have been helping the Delia 4-H with grooming and showing cattle tips. What an asset they must be considering their award winning track record on the Purebred Cattle Show Circuit.
There is a meeting at the Club this Thursday. Plan to attend to help get things organized for the 100th that is coming fast. Volunteers are needed so please phone and get your name on a list. If anyone has VHS tapes of any of the Stampedes please phone me as we are looking at putting together a display. We do need it right away. Painting is happening, repairs are being done, the Club is just about finished (for now anyways) so things are happening. Go to the website www.handhills.ab.ca to see the countdown and an agenda for the 100th.
Till next week…keep those winter clothes handy!
