Cadets experience hands on training
Members of the RCSCC Furious Sea Cadets were able to take on some hands on training off the coast of Victoria. Above, Cadet Spencer Aulenbach at the Helm of Patrol Craft Training Vessel (PCTV) Orca as part of the seaman deployment. Cadets were selected from across Canada to participated aboard the PCTV Orca and Raven. The experience taught them a variety of skills including piloting the ship, emergency procedures, navigation, lookout, docking and anchoring procedures and more. Highlights included a man overboard drill, which taught valuable teamwork and communication skills. He was among a group of cadets selected from across the country to participate in a week-long deployment which taught them a variety of skills and lessons about life on a ship.
