Delia is looking gorgeously green this week – what a difference the rain made! Communities in Bloom have the flower tubs planted, Delia gardeners have their bedding out plants in the ground, and the lilacs have never been more beautiful. Spring is here!

It was a busy Saturday in Delia, the library held their annual garage sale, well attended by supporters browsing through the great variety of items for sale, so the Delia Library Board would like to thank all the people who made the 6th annual garage sale a success. Angie and Don Moe, Pat and Murray Johnson and Bill Sanger for all the work in setting up on Friday. Then a big thanks to all the volunteers, Laura McDougal, Angie Moe, Serenity Wood that worked on Saturday and a special big thanks to Fraser Dool (Hanna) who packed boxes and moved tables, and was a super worker. Also thanks to everyone who donated and who purchased. We made $550.00 and this will go to the summer reading program. Thanks to all.

The members of the Drop In Centre were busy on Saturday, serving up that red rhubarb pie and coffee –thanks to all who stopped by the Drop In for dessert, we really do appreciate the support.

We are so sad to hear that the Delia General Store will be closing its doors next month, as the owners look forward to retirement. Diana and Terry have been real champions for our community, we wish them the very best and happiest retirement possible, although we are going to miss them terribly.

Dates to remember in June: June 8 – Birthday Party at the Delia Drop In Centre for members and friends June 9 – General meeting at the Delia Drop In Centre at 10 in the morning June 12 –: Pancake Breakfast sponsored by the Delia Elks and Royal Purple June 11 – Bridal shower for Andrea Daly at 1 p.m., at the Nacmine Hall June 16 – Pot Luck at the Drop In Centre 12 noon sharp.

The members at the Drop In Centre are going to miss Betty Clark, who has gone home to New Hazelton. Betty has been visiting her daughter, Terry Trefz, and family, and was a frequent visitor to the Drop In. She was an avid card player and managed to beat the rest of us badly at any card game she chose. It won’t be as interesting at our card games now, Betty always had a story to regale us with! Hope you come back soon Betty!

Anniversary congratulations to Shirley and Gordon Denzler on June 2, to Shirley and Kevin Friedley on the 3rd of June, Eleanor and Rick Fair will celebrate their special day on the 8th of June. Jordan Stiles has a birthday on the 3rd, Terry Trefz and Darren Denzler share a birthday on the 11th of June. Have a perfect special day!

There is no snooze button on a cat that wants breakfast.
