The Drumheller Mail - - CLASSIFIEDS -

We are so proud of the young people in our community ! On Friday, June 24, 2016, two of these young people, Raine McDougald and Avril Wilson, were honoured at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary when they received their certificates for earning Gold Level of the Duke of Edinburgh International Awards of Canada. Their awards were presented by his highness, Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex on behalf of his father the Duke of Edinburgh. There were 148 recipients from all over Alberta. These young folks had previously received a gold pin for their accomplishments. Both Avril and Raine remarked that Prince Edward had a great sense of humour as he spoke to each of them. Raine McDougald was honoured to give the thank you speech to the Prince on behalf of all the recipients. Both parents, Brad and Koren McDougald and Derrick and Connie Wilson were present for the ceremony. How special is it to have two from a small farm community receive such recognition. Also to be congratulated from this area are Madison Colberg from Drumheller, Moriah Ohlhauser from Carbon and Lowell Nelson from Morrin. Congratulations to all these fine and special young people.
