Mark your cal­en­dars, the Hus­sar Fall Fair will be ar­riv­ing on Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 23, 2016, from 10 am - 5 pm with a setup time for all ven­dors at 8 am, lunch avail­able for pur­chase. Hosted by the Hus­sar Trip Club. They’re in the process of look­ing for more ven­dors or for more info please con­tact Corey San­dum at 403-787-2410 if you’re in­ter­ested in putting a ta­ble in for the Fall Fair. The Vil­lage of Hus­sar will be host­ing a July 1st Cel­e­bra­tion for Canada’s 150th Year in Con­fed­er­a­tion. This will hap­pen in 2017. The Vil­lage is look­ing for any­one who wants to make a do­na­tion to this event. If you make a do­na­tion, you will re­ceive a char­i­ta­ble tax re­ceipt. Cheques can be made out to Vil­lage of Hus­sar and mailed to Box 100. The Dalum/Hus­sar Lutheran Parish would like to ex­tend an in­vi­ta­tion to the com­mu­nity to a cel­e­bra­tion of Pas­tor Dan Hen­drick­son’s 25th year of or­di­na­tion. There will be a joint church ser­vice at Dalum at 11:15 on Septem­ber 25 with lunch and a pro­gram to fol­low at 12:30. Every­one is wel­come to at­tend any or all of the cel­e­bra­tion. To com­mem­o­rate this oc­ca­sion, the con­gre­ga­tions are rais­ing a “gui­tar fund” to go to­wards the pur­chase of a new gui­tar to re­place the one he broke ear­lier this year. Any­one in the com­mu­nity that has been touched by Pas­tor Dan’s min­istry that wishes to con­trib­ute to the fund can do so by con­tact­ing the fol­low­ing: For Dalum: Con­tact Julie Eske­land at 823-5283. While we are ex­plor­ing new li­brary al­ter­na­tives, you will still be able to ob­tain books at Chi­nook Fi­nan­cial. The books are there for every­one’s use. They will be lent on the honor sys­tem, so please feel free to pop in and pickup chil­dren’s books and cur­rent best sell­ers. Please re­turn the items back to the dis­plays. Thank you to Chi­nook Fi­nan­cial for pro­vid­ing the space and to the Marigold Li­brary Sys­tem for pro­vid­ing the best sell­ers. Keep watch­ing for fur­ther li­brary de­vel­op­ments and our an­nual mem­ber­ship drive which will be held in Septem­ber. Some shelv­ing, a file cab­i­net and the desk are still avail­able if any­one is in­ter­ested they can con­tact any of the board mem­bers.

The Com­mu­nity of Hus­sar would like to ex­press our Con­do­lences to Frank Peters and fam­ily on the re­cent pass­ing of Shirley Peters. Frank and Shirley owned and op­er­ated the Hus­sar Ho­tel up un­til 1986. Our thoughts are with you all at this time.

Valerie and Nathan San­dum trav­elled to Mon­treal, Que­bec, Au­gust 26 to get Nathan set­tled in at McGill Univer­sity where he was ac­cepted last spring. Val re­turned home on Tues­day, Au­gust 30. Nathan is tak­ing Com­puter Science and be­gan his classes on Septem­ber 2.

Cheryl Fisher, Judy Sproule, and Cyn­thia Michie met for a nice visit with Au­drey Treacy in Cal­gary, on Thurs­day, Au­gust 25. Au­drey had flown out to Al­berta from Lan­g­ley, B.C. to visit fam­ily.
