Morrin Community Calendar
January is over...yeah! So let’s get on with Happy Hearts month as we begin with this first day of February. We still have some winter to get through of course, but the warmer weather is welcome for sure. The Morrin Lions will be serving up the annual Valentine breakfast next Sunday, February 12 from 9-noon at the Morrin Community Hall so mark it down and come one come all.
And I attended the Village Council meeting this past week with not much news out of the ordinary to report. Accounts are paid in full (as usual) and new hydrant valves have been ordered. The revised animal control contract is under review and any changes will be announced later. Council member concerns were minor. When it snows a lot and melts too quickly, the streets and side- walks get icy. If we get another blast of winter, Public Works efforts to remove the snow from the middle of village roads will be a recommended priority. And remember, if you need ICE-MELT to combat the slick walking areas, the Morrin Lions have a good product available that comes in a large 35 lb. pail. You may get it from the Mountain View Credit Union or call John Neill at 403-772-3847.
So, let me tell you about the Archery Club meeting that was held last Friday night at the Morrin Arena Sportsplex. They had a good turnout and people are keen. Organizers are hoping to be able to start regular shooting times for kids and adults by the middle of February if all goes well. Before that happens, they have a few construction projects on the go to install some new lights, secure the doors and set up walking paths to the targets. There seems to be a lot of interest for this local activity with several members already signed up. A safety course may have to be taken as a pre-requisite beforehand for those who wish to join.
And that’s about it for today. Congrats to my dear Kelcy friend who recently welcomed little boy blue baby Archer into her sweet family. God bless... carry on...cheers!
