The Drumheller Mail - - CLASSIFIEDS - Terry Armstrong

Thank you to the Hussar Masons for their generous donation to the Hussar Rural Fire Association new fire engine and tools for it. The new engine is under construction and about two months away from delivery. The association has now raised enough funds to pay our share of the truck. We are just raising additional funds for some high volume hose and a few other tools for the truck. We are really grateful to all the donors and we will be honouring them (Individuals, Organizations and Corporate) when we officially put the new truck into service in June. Thank you again from your firefighters!

The hockey and ringette season is winding down for many as teams move into playoffs. For those that make playoffs congratulations and for those that don’t remember the fun, the friendships and the physical activity. Noone will remember all the games that were won and lost however the fun times will remain with you forever. Remember to thank all the coaches, managers and other volunteers – without you the kids would not have the sport to remember. Also, remember to thank all of the parents and spectators who came to watch and cheer. Remember how lucky you are to have the health to be able to do physical activities – there are many who do not.

The Hussar Lions have set out eye glass collection boxes at Chinook Financial, the Sundowners’ and the Hussar Hall. As well as prescription lenses you may also drop off non-prescription sunglasses and also “Readers”.

You can also drop off parts and pieces of glasses (lenses, screws, etc), as long as those pieces are in plastic bags. The Hussar Lions thank you in advance for your donations.

Mark your calendar! The Hussar Sundowners will be sponsoring a fun evening April 7 at the Centre featuring The Good Time Boys. The evening will kick off with a pot-luck supper at 6:00 and entertainment at 7:00. All are welcome who want to have a “good time”.

The community organizations meeting will be held on April 23 at 7:30 at the Hussar hall so mark your calendars. This meeting has been an annual event where the groups report about their plans for the upcoming year, what they did in the past year and their financial status. Each group in Hussar is asked to send a representative to speak on behalf of their organization.

Congratulations to the Sr High mixed curling team for winning silver medal in Indus – Emma Armstrong and Lane Wilson played from here.

A group of Hussar Seniors went on a bus trip on Valentine’s Day. Thanks to John and Rene Jensen for all the planning. For any on facebook you could see the picture with the caption “Senior bus leaving for high risk investment meeting at cash casino”. There were no high rollers however a wonderful day of visiting included lunch and then supper in Strathmore. Many played crib when they got back to Hussar. Congrats to Rori Holm and The Rockyford Ringers U12 who played Cochrane and Airdrie this weekend. They walked away with one win and one tie which advanced them to provincials. They will play Provincials on March 10-12, in St. Albert. Good luck to the team!

Sounds like many people from Hussar enjoyed one of the 9 shows of Garth Brooks concerts in Edmonton.

If you have news for next week please call Terry at 403- 787-2118.
