Members of the community came out to celebrate Canada’s 150th day of the 150th year with a fun-filled evening behind the Badlands Community Facility (BCF) on May 30.
The event was funded by the Canada 150 committee where a BBQ was available with over 280 hot dogs sold.
“It was crazy,” said Julia Fielding, Canada 150 organizer for the event. “They had to go replenish.”
The community was well in attendance for the games and social chit-chat.
“It was so nice to see everybody out and enjoying the day and just getting the community together,” said Fielding. “I thought it was wonderful.”
A highlight of the day was the tug of war as many companies and other groups battled it out to see who would reign champion of the round.
“Everybody really got into it and had lots of fun cheering whether they were participating or not, there was lots of cheering and everything.
“We’ll need to talk with the committee and see how we will be moving forward,” said Fielding.
For now, the event was a fun experience for folks from all around.
“We were just so pleased with how well it went,” said Fielding. “Everybody participated great, I saw lots of kids having sack races so it was good.”
The local RCMP teamed up to defeat the Drumheller fire department during the Canada 150 Picnic in the Park event on Terri Huxley May 30. Eight teams were able to sign up and take on the classic game.
