The rain was most welcome this past weekend. Took the dust down on the road and brightened up the grass and garden plants tremendously.
Shayla and Drew had a big shower this past Thursday and were extremely grateful for all the beautiful gifts they received and really enjoyed the entertainment that was provided by the Northwest corner ladies. They do such a good job of making everyone laugh.

The Rate of Gain went to Zoe Avramenko with an amazing 3.82 pounds per day. Rumsey also won the Pen of Three with the combination of Corbyn and Blake Stoneman’s calves along with Brett Holowath’s calf. There wasn’t a stall display competition this year because of the 100th anniversary theme for 4-H all across Canada. The three clubs joined efforts in making the entire arena a celebration of 100 years. Our local club had a very busy week as they completed their show and sale on Monday; did their community service on Thursday down in Drumheller when they served burgers and clean up for Allied’s anniversary BBQ supper then helped host a big 100th celebration of 4-H on Saturday in Rowley with afternoon activities, pizza night and entertainment provided by Blake Reid and his band who wrote the 4-H song that you might have heard on 910 CFCW recently. The pizza was delicious as always and the band was excellent so hats off to the organizers who worked through that misty, cloudy day and as all Albertans and farmers do – put on an extra layer and away we go to enjoy the day.
The Rumsey S.T.A.R.S Ride is gearing up again for this year. It will be held on August 13 down at the TL Bar ranch. You can pick up your pledge sheets with the Eleanor Richmond Clan and Ernie Goddard if you want to get an early start on collecting.
The Rumsey Sports Day is also coming up quick, on July 14, 15, and 16 so if you are interested in playing ball on that weekend and I haven’t contacted you yet, please give me a call (403-368-3820) to enter a team. We would love to have you join in on the fun.
