Delia Senior News
Hope everyone enjoyed Fathers’ day Sunday with their families around them. My friend Doreen came up from Drumheller for the day, and as we have neither fathers nor our childrens’ fathers anymore, we went out for church, a nice dinner and a lovely drive in the country, stopping to visit friend Joan along the way. Thanks Doreen, for making what could have been a sad day into an enjoyable day! Sometimes memories make us sad, but a good friend at the precise moment is a lifesaver – well, a mood changer anyway.
The Delia Drop In Centre was a busy place on Wednesday afternoon, as Mrs. Johnson brought her students to the Centre to visit the members. The children brought gaily decorated plant pots with them and together the members and children planted petunias while discussing school days past and present. We thoroughly enjoyed spending time with such a nice group of children. Thank you, Mrs. Johnson, for thinking of the Drop In members, we are looking forward to having the children visit again soon.
The June Birthday party at the Delia Drop In Centre was also held on Wednesday afternoon, after 2 o’clock, with eight members in attendance, with Doreen and Eva as hostesses for the day. The birthday girl for the day was Peggy Anderson who had a birthday in May. Charlotte also had a May birthday but was unable to attend the party. Card bingo was played for entertainment, while an orange “poke” cake with Kool Whip was served for dessert. Peggy won the door prize, a potted pink Begonia. The next Birthday party at the Drop In will be held in September.
The general meeting at the Drop In Centre will take place on Thursday, June 22, at 10 in the morning. Everyone welcome to come and hear what the Drop In is planning, as this will be the last meeting until September.
