Craigmyle Cardinal

The Drumheller Mail - - CLASSIFIEDS - Bev Bergman 403-665-2492

Coming up quickly is the next Craigmyle pancake breakfast. Sunday, February 4, is the morning to come to Craigmyle to enjoy a great breakfast!

Garden catalogues are arriving in the mail so it must be time to “think spring.” You will have the opportunity to get motivated for spring by coming to Craigmyle on Saturday, February 10, at 2:00 p.m.

Sandi Checkel, from Checkel Greenhouse, will be offering a gardening presentation in the Craigmyle church basement. Primarily, she will be addressing the proper use of fertilizers and the best flower varieties for our area. As well, she will do her best to answer all your gardening questions.

There will be door prize draws and refreshments will be served.

Marie Bannister was the guest of honour at a bridal shower held in the Craigmyle church basement this past Saturday afternoon. Guests arrived to beautifully decorated tables featuring the colours coral and grey. Master of Ceremonies, Donna Johnson, welcomed a good turnout of ladies and introduced Marie, her wedding party and her mother, future mother-in-law and her step mom. A short program consisted of several games conducted by Leah Hunter. Marie opened a fine array of gifts and thanked those present for the gifts and for hosting the shower.

Throughout the afternoon, the ladies “grazed” on a sumptuous variety of hors d’oeuvre snacks and enjoyed visiting. It was great to see Susan and Rebecca Maetche and Juanita Pruden back in the community.

Two ambitious community members, Richard Sverdahl and Art Bergman, have been doing some deconstruction of the church! If you look up as you go down the steps, you will notice that the answer to an ongoing question has been found. The question is,

“Where exactly are the weight bearing beams under the church?” By removing some “surface” items (tiles, laths etc.) the pair discovered that it is possible to get more headroom above the steps. Bill Rees stopped by a few days later and also had a look at the situation, determining that the steps into the basement can be reconstructed to code. Hopefully we will soon have the “tripping up” and “falling down” issues resolved.

Birthday greetings go out to Mickey Johnson on February 3; Jarrid Stern on February 4, Alan Pfiefer on February 6; and Martha Pfiefer on February 8. Have a great day.
