Morrin Community Calendar

The Drumheller Mail - - AROUND TOWN - Darcy Graham 403-772-3747

Well, finally we are through with this long chilly winter month...what a relief! A little snow and a bit more cold has come our way. And with the end of January, Morrin junior/senior high students have completed mid-term exams and I am sure they and their teachers will all be anxiously awaiting their test results. Moms and Dads and caregivers, please make a note...there is a teacher prep/no school for students day, today, Wednesday January 31, a refreshing breather after all the hard work and studying.

So, February is Heart Month and the Morrin Lions will be hosting the annual Valentine Breakfast at the Morrin Community Hall on Sunday, February 11 from 9:00 a.m. - noon. Admission by donation, receipts will be issued upon request and as customary, the collection will be passed on to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

And I reported earlier this month that the Blooming Prairies Drop In Center had sprung a leak when the hot water pipe burst. The water did some damage but the room has been dried out and put back together and is open and usable for activities in the interim while the group awaits the insurance adjustment for repairs to come.

And I take no pleasure in letting you all know that Sandy Wolf has recently been diagnosed with ALS, a disease that relentlessly attacks the function of the muscles. Sandy has served our community for many years in various practicalning her neat and cozy home hair salon (including hosting the new kindergarten class at her shop each fall for a walkover field trip) taking a turn at fulfilling a council term and caring for her friends and family and clients all along the way.

Our thoughts and prayers and assistance are behind you dear Sandy and Rene as it is now our turn to serve. With their knowledge, permission, and deep appreciation, a trust fund has been set up at the Mountain View Credit Union to help with medical costs and road trips to and from the hospital. Lets all pitch in and give them a boost...every little bit counts! As Sandy is warmly embraced with love and strength from family and friends, and with fighting hopeful spirit, we pray she may respond to treatment/tests and receive miraculous divine healing from the great beloved Physician Jesus name, amen.
