For­mer ATB em­ployee pleads guilty to fraud

A for­mer ATB Fi­nan­cial em­ployee in Drumheller pleaded guilty to all charges of fraud in pro­vin­cial court.

Re­becca Tucker ap­peared in pro­vin­cial court in Drumheller on Fri­day, Fe­bru­ary 23. She is fac­ing 16 counts of fraud un­der $5,000 and 13 counts of draw­ing doc­u­ments with­out au­thor­ity. She pleaded guilty to the charges.

It is al­leged, ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­lease, that be­tween Novem­ber 2015 and Novem­ber 2016, an em­ployee of the Drumheller branch of ATB made unauthoriz­ed with­drawals from the ac­counts of seven dif­fer­ent bank clients. All the vic­tims were se­niors and more than $40,000 was taken through 16 dif­fer­ent cash with­drawals. Charges were laid in Au­gust of last year.

The judge pre­sid­ing or­dered a pre-sen­tence re­port, and sen­tenc­ing has been sched­uled for Fri­day, June 8.
