On the week­end of May 25, 26, 27 Kylie Bishop com­peted at the Jr. High Pro­vin­cial Fi­nals Rodeo in Nan­ton. She qual­i­fied in 3 events: Girls break­away, girls goat ty­ing and rib­bon rop­ing. She had a great week­end fin­ish­ing 4th over­all in the goat ty­ing, qual­i­fy­ing her for Na­tion­als. She will also be com­pet­ing in the rib­bon rop­ing there. Kylie will be head­ing to Huron, South Dakota from June 24-30 to com­pete against the top Jr. High rodeo ath­letes from 43 states, 5 prov­inces, Aus­tralia and Mex­ico. It will be an ex­pe­ri­ence of a life­time. She also qual­i­fied to go to Cana­di­ans in Mer­ritt, B.C. July 27, 28 and 29. Way to go Kylie!

Wheat­land Cross­ing School Grade 3 and 4 stu­dents en­joyed a sleep­over field trip to the Tyrrell Mu­seum on Mon­day, June 4. The 51 stu­dents and 10 chap­er­ones en­joyed the two days where they learned about the his­tory of the bad­lands on a hike out­side. Stu­dents also learned about rap­tors and built rap­tor arms; played a game about Al­berta, made fos­sil casts, and went swim­ming at the newly ren­o­vated Drumheller Aquaplex. The field trip was made af­ford­able to the stu­dents with the won­der­ful do­na­tions from the Stan­dard Lionettes, Hus­sar His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety, Hus­sar Sun­down­ers, and Gates Agen­cies. Thank you for your sup­port! It was a very mem­o­rable ex­pe­ri­ence. It was many of the stu­dent’s first sleep­over ex­pe­ri­ence. The staff would like to thank all the chap­er­ones who joined us as well as it made the trip so much eas­ier to look after every­one’s needs!

at­tended the cer­e­mony. Af­ter­wards, they all went out for a cel­e­bra­tion lun­cheon. This is An­gela’s sec­ond de­gree, hav­ing re­ceived her Bach­e­lor of Arts from Mount Royal in 2013. An­gela will be work­ing in the Chi­nooks Edge School Di­vi­sion this fall. Con­grat­u­la­tions An­gela!

The Bas­sano Peewee base­ball team played two games last week; both against Sik­sika. Mon­day, June 4, the boys played in Hus­sar; and Thurs­day, June 6 in Bas­sano. They won both games and will wrap up their sea­son this week. Hus­sar boys on the team are: Cadin Hiebert, Em­mitt Filko­hazy, Ja­son Slemko, Dayne Col­lett, Dustin Holm, Colton An­der­son and Dex­ter Hale.

Duck Lake days took place June 8-10. There were many trail­ers at the grounds for the week­end. The ball tour­na­ment was a suc­cess de­spite some rainy weather Satur­day evening which post­poned some games. Satur­day evening, ap­prox­i­mately 130 peo­ple en­joyed a bar­be­cued steak sup­per with all the fix­ings. There was a bit of ex­cite­ment as a thun­der­storm briefly knocked out the power in the area. How­ever, that didn’t stop the party from car­ry­ing on! Thanks to every­one that put on this great event!

On Satur­day, June 9 Brit­tany We­gener cel­e­brated her up­com­ing wed­ding with a stagette party with a group of her good friends. They en­joyed sup­per out in Strath­more, fol­lowed by a trip to ‘Aussie Rules’ in Cal­gary. A good time was had by all.

Stephanie Larsen also had her stagette party on Satur­day, June 9. The girls en­joyed sup­per to­gether, fol­lowed by a show in Cal­gary. There may be some tired ladies around Hus­sar this week!

Hus­sar Daze are fast ap­proach­ing! They will be held

June 15-17 and there will be var­i­ous ac­tiv­i­ties tak­ing place through­out the week­end. The pa­rade theme this year is “Vil­lage of Hus­sar 90th Birth­day”. Be sure to come and watch after en­joy­ing a pan­cake break­fast in the arena. To en­ter a float, please con­tact San­dra Vi­cic at 403-787-2912. There will be a car show held on Satur­day start­ing at 11:30; to en­ter, please con­tact Glen at 403-901-4866. A ball tour­na­ment will take place through­out the week­end. To en­ter a ball team, please con­tact Kyle Gor­don at 403-934-7448. There will be a con­ces­sion avail­able at the camp kitchen on Satur­day and Sun­day. Playschool will once again be hold­ing the com­mu­nity garage sale. Drop off times are Wed­nes­day, June 13 and Thurs­day, June 14 from 7-9 p.m. Sale times are Fri­day 111, and Satur­day 8:30-10 and 1-2:30. The Credit Union will be serv­ing lunch on Fri­day, June 15 from 11:30-1. There will be a bar­be­cue sup­per at the hall on Satur­day, June 16 with the pro­ceeds go­ing to the Kid­ney March. The dance will be­gin at 9:00 with the band “Rene­gade Sta­tion” pro­vid­ing the en­ter­tain­ment. There will be a bouncy cas­tle and var­i­ous chil­dren’s ac­tiv­i­ties at the camp­ground. Parental su­per­vi­sion is re­quired.

Please come cel­e­brate with the Hus­sar grads on Wed­nes­day, June 27 at the hall as they come to­gether to cel­e­brate their ac­com­plish­ments!

Over twenty ladies from the Stitch and Chat group and the Sun­down­ers went to the Coun­try Farm House for their spring out­ing.

Twelve se­niors from Hus­sar Sun­down­ers walked in the Hike for Hos­pice in Strath­more and would like to thank all fam­ily, friends and busi­nesses who spon­sored them. They’re all proud to re­port they all com­pleted the 5 k.

There will be a Trip Kids meet­ing at 7:00 p.m. on June 20 for the new trip club. This group will in­clude in­ter­ested Hus­sar youth cur­rently in grade 6, 7 or 8 that at­tend Wheat­land Cross­ing. The
