Con­grat­u­la­tions to Brad and Beth Dundas on the birth of their baby girl Oak­lie Hope. She was born on June 10, 2018 at 12:45 p.m. and weighed in at 8lbs, 2oz.

Con­grat­u­la­tions as well to Blair and Rachel Dundas on the birth of Harper Marie, born at 10:05 a.m., on June 21, weigh­ing 7lb., 8oz. Big sis­ters Avery and Dawsyn were very ex­cited to wel­come this new ad­di­tion to their fam­ily!

Thanks to every­one that en­tered floats in the pa­rade on Satur­day, June 16. The theme this year was the 90th Birth­day of Hus­sar Vil­lage. For the com­mu­nity cat­e­gory, the Se­niors (ie: 90 year olds) came in 1st place, and Richard­son Pi­o­neer came in 2nd place. In the Busi­ness cat­e­gory, Chi­nook Fi­nan­cial took 1st place, and Dundas Oil­field Services took 2nd. In the Ma­chin­ery cat­e­gory, Ray La­timer with his an­tique trac­tors came in 1st place. The Clas­sic Cars cat­e­gory went to Hugh Peake with his pre­cious cargo of lo­cal se­niors who are 90 years young. For the Horse cat­e­gory, the trick rid­ers took 1st place. In the Mis­cel­la­neous cat­e­gory, Mary Mur­phy (who cel­e­brated her 90th Birth­day on Satur­day) took 1st in a dec­o­rated Red Mus­tang; and Coy­otes Mi­nor Hockey took 2nd place. In the Chil­dren’s cat­e­gory, Hus­sar 4H Multi-Club re­ceived 1st place, and Grad 2018 took 2nd place. There is a small prize of money that goes along with these rib­bons. Thank you to Clay Arm­strong for set­ting up the or­der of the pa­rade and to San­dra Vi­cic for or­ga­niz­ing.

Thanks to Kyle Gor­don and every­one that helped to put on the ball tour­na­ment over Hus­sar Daze. There were 20 teams en­tered this year. Thank you as well to the Hus­sar Lions for all the work they put in over the course of the week­end; and thanks to every­one that sup­ported the Playschool by do­nat­ing or pur­chas­ing from the com­mu­nity garage sale. It was a ter­rific week­end!

Wheat­land Cross­ing School held an Awards Cer­e­mony on Mon­day, June 18. Stu­dents were hon­oured with Aca­demic, Ath­letic, and Ci­ti­zen­ship awards. Con­grat­u­la­tions to all the award re­cip­i­ents. The fol­low­ing stu­dents from Hus­sar re­ceived awards. For in­di­vid­ual sports awards, Laura Peake re­ceived a volleyball award, Em­mitt Filko­hazy re­ceived a cross coun­try award, and Jason Slemko re­ceived a basketball award. Ju­nior High Fe­male Ath­lete of the Year was Grace Gre­gory. High School Ath­letes of the Year were Reese Taubert, and Erin Slemko. For in­di­vid­ual sub­ject awards, Tea­gan Adam­cewicz re­ceived the high­est mark in English 10, and Erin Slemko re­ceived the high­est mark in Science 10. More than twenty stu­dents from Hus­sar also re­ceived cer­tifi­cates and ac­knowl­edge­ment for be­ing on the hon­our role.

Wheat­land Cross­ing stu­dents and staff were treated to a Year-End Bar­be­cue lunch on Tues­day, June 19. The weather was per­fect and the food was de­li­cious. Many thanks to Ge­orge Bax­ter for do­nat­ing the burg­ers and thanks to the staff and par­ent vol­un­teers for prepar­ing the lunch.

The new Trip kids group held an or­ga­ni­za­tional meet­ing on Wed­nes­day, June 20. This group will be tak­ing over many of the fundrais­ing jobs that were per­formed by the cur­rent Trip group. The cur­rent Trip kids em­bark on their Mediter­ranean cruise on July 5. Thanks to every­one for sup­port­ing the Trip Club!
