Hello Hand Hills...as we leave August behind and head into the month of September it leaves one wondering where the time has gone. The kids are back in school, harvest is happening and life just goes faster and faster. Take some time to unwind and relax. Enjoy the last dog days of summer!
It was a very fitting party for a great couple! Bob and Pinky Tabor celebrated their (early) 50th Wedding Anniversary at the Clubhouse on Saturday, August 25. Their four kids and their families were all there. Nancy and Steven and Dorothy and Eileen came from Lethbridge, Heather and Egbert from Calgary, Suzanne and Jamie and Liam and Kim came all the way from Ottawa and Brian came from Olds. Extended family was there. Bob’s 3 brothers and his sister and Pinky’s two brothers and a sister along with two of her aunts enjoyed the night. The top from their original wedding cake was on the head table. From 2 1/2 months and up to the age of 75+ friends and family enjoyed a great Hand Hills supper, awesome old time music from Bert Hoy and the Badlanders and lots of laughs and visiting. Congratulations Bob and Pinky! You know how to throw a party! The day after the party, Bob and Pinky donned their wedding outfits and yes they still fit! I have the picture!
A very familiar sight when Bob and Pinky get together is the Big Six Group. This group consists of six college friends of Bob’s who have been getting together every year for the last 55 plus years. At the party they were missing one of them I believe. How often do you hear of that happening? (I think that there is a newspaper story that needs to be written about this!)
Also taking in the celebration was Don and Bev Hall and Stan and Lorilee Marshall who both have passed the 50th milestone in their married life. It was great to see them out on the dance floor and enjoying the night. Does my heart good to report on these good happenings!
Ella Beck, daughter Lorna and hubby Brian took an 11 day trip to Vancouver. Ella used her time on the Island to visit with son Darrell whom she had not seen in a few years. Darrell lives in Sayward where he has worked at the Fish Hatchery for 10 years. They picked blackberries and plums and enjoyed the walks along the beach collecting seashells and sand dollars. Lorna, Brian and Ella toured Chemainus and further south on the Island. Sounds like a great trip!
I heard that the Corb Lund, Tim Hus Concert held in Drumheller was a great event. A dozen people that attended the concert, stopped in on their way home to finish off their evening at the 50th Anniversary Party. Two great events in one night is a win-win!
Our thoughts and prayers are with Charlie Fielding as he is currently in the Hanna Hospital. Stop in and have a visit with this great guy. Also heard his sister Ada was in the hospital but is back at the Lodge doing good. Hello Charlie and Ada !
Off to Grade 1 in Delia is Mairi Rosin and Rowan Hardy. This is the start of something good. Enjoy it! Any other Grade Oners I missed? Please let me know. Larry Rosin is back driving school bus. This has been a long time job of his!
Till next time... maybe the Fall season has arrived.... enjoy all the good things it has to offer!
