Aquaplex closure extended, contractor hired
The Aquaplex continues to be closed to the public as the town searches for a company to repair a leak in the deep end.
The town said Tuesday a contractor has been hired to make the repairs involving a damaged drain. These repairs will be covered under warranty.
One of the drain structures at the deep end of the pool has a wide split on the side, which water was leaking through. It was found the crack has been caused by the drain slumping due to a loss of support underneath. The contractor will be mud jacking under the drain and then mak- ing repairs to the drain structure.
“Coordination of sub-contractors by the contractor will see the work starting on Friday and being completed by November 26.” said Darryl Drohomerski CAO of the Town of Drumheller. “After the repairs are completed, it will take around 10 days to fill and heat the pool and have the water tested by Alberta Health Services.”
Aquaplex memberships will be extended for the length of the closure.
The closure is one of many this year affecting Aquaplex users.
