The Drumheller Mail - - AROUND TOWN - 403-821-295S Pioneer Trail 403-823-S5S5

Well the Christmas Season is officially here, with a great Festival of Lights held this past Saturday night. Pioneer Trail once again was the spot to be, as Mr. and Mrs. Claus showed up to greet the children and hear what their wishes are for Christmas. The children were once again entertained with decorating cookies and making cards. Thank you to all who helped to make the night a great success once again.

Bridge scores are in for the games held on Thursday November 15 at Pioneer Trail. 1st place went to Jan Quinney and Don Robertson (4120), 2nd place went to Jennie DeMille and Lilo Rolf (3050), 3rd place went to Barb and Bob Repas (2560). Once again, well done singing and leading contemporary worship, and we appreciate when we get the opportunity to partner in ministry. My hobbies are reading, playing games with my family, golf, cross-country skiing, going to costume parties with Joce, and telling puns and jokes. You may get a sense of this from my sermons! One of my favourite quotes is from Brennan players, see you week.

All Christmas items are now on sale for half price, stop by and see the many great Christmas items we have for you to purchase.

We are open six days a week from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m., with a different event going on each afternoon. Monday - Crib, Tuesday - Canasta, Wednesday - Bingo, Thursday - Canasta and Scrabble, Friday - Euchre. We also have our Choir that practices each Thursday morning, except for the third Thursday when you can find them performing at Hillview Manor and the Sunshine Lodge. I hope everyone has a great weekend, drive safely, watch out for all four legged creatures out wandering around. all again next

A Reminder…The ‘ Memory Tree’, a touching tradition, of placing the names of loved ones that have passed on, attaching the names to the big spruce tree beside the church has been going on for many years. As Christmas starts to come to mind, the Nazareth Lutheran Church is happy to offer this act of remembrance to everyone. As a community we look forward to seeing the twinkling lights, sparkling ornaments, and the names of those we hold dear, nestled in branches of one of the oldest trees in the community throughout the days and nights leading up to December 25. Should you wish to add the name(s) of your loved ones, a small of donation per individual/couple is requested. Cheques may be made out to Nazareth Lutheran Church; and all donations will be eligible for a tax receipt. The names will be read during the Longest Night Service at Nazareth Lutheran, where everyone is welcome. Please contact or mail cheques to, Yvonne Way, Box 12, Site 1, RR 1, Standard Alberta, T0J 3G0 or Carol Callaghan, Box 26, Standard, Alberta, T0J 3G0. The donations collected support community betterment. Thank you for supporting this treasured act of remembrance.

This is Adreena reporting for the Village of Standard. Deadline for submission is Friday for the following week. Please submit news items to the standard[email protected] , phone 403-644-3995 or stop in at the library. Have a great week friends!!!
