Greetings & Salutations! Here’s what’s new this week in the Standard Community… The Village of Standard would like to warmly welcome our new Intentional Interim Pastor at the Nazareth Lutheran Church! Get to know Pastor Greg & his family in his own words;

“Greetings to all! My name is Greg Smith, and I am the new Intentional Interim Pastor at Nazareth Lutheran Church. My family and I moved to Calgary from Ontario in September, and our home base is in Evergreen, but we will stay at the Manse on a part-time basis. We are so thankful to be a part of the warm and welcoming community in Standard. Some of my favourite times in my over 25 years of ministry were when I was an Interim Pastor in Indiana, so I look forward to the 18-24 months I’ll spend with the fine folks here. My hours in Standard will usually be a minimum of Tuesdays (including overnight), Thursdays (including overnight), and Sundays. Exceptions to this will be if there is a Cluster meeting elsewhere, or if our family has an event that I need to attend. I am hoping the weather will be cooperative for my commute! I certainly like the fact that there is a pit-stop Starbucks along the way. Our family consists of myself, my wife of 15 years, Jocelyn, Keltie (7), and Seth (almost 7), along with my grown daughters from my first marriage: Megan (28), Emily (26), and Rachel (23). My older daughters still live in the States, where I am from, and we may use some of my vacation time to make visits to them. Keltie is a vibrant, life-loving, passionate girl in Grade 2. Seth is a funny, smart, spunky boy in Grade 1. They are both enjoying their new school, and we are so grateful for their easy transition. Jocelyn is originally from New Brunswick. She works as an Epicure Consultant, teaching free Cooking Classes and sells spices and cookware. She also teaches online ESL classes to children in China. She enjoys Manning: “God loves you unconditionally, as you are and not as you should be, because nobody is as they should be.” I love hearing people’s faith stories because there is a sacredness in being let into their lives this way. I am looking forward to journeying alongside the people of Nazareth as they discern their future and connecting with the people in the area.”
