Rumsey & District Register
Thank you to all who attended the Annual Christmas market this year. It was a wonderful success for vendors and shoppers as they braved the roads to join in on the fun. The lunch was all sold out so we will definitely plan for more soup and chili next year. Later in the afternoon we had the pleasure of watching all our children from the community and surrounding area enjoy the games and visit from Santa. It’s always fun to watch a little ones’ reaction as they are put on Santa’s knee. It’s usually polar opposites of utmost joy to total terror as they assess this big, jolly bearded fellow who is trying so hard to get them to smile for the camera.
The Rumsey Ag Society’s Annual General Meeting will be held next Monday, December 10, starting at 7:00 p.m. We welcome all ideas and contributions from the community at this meeting so come and join us and see what is happening behind the scenes.
The Rumsey-Rowley 4-H Beef Club will be having their December meeting on the 12th and welcome all donations to the Drumheller food bank at this meeting so keep that in mind if you have a little extra in your pantry that you could send along to a family more needy.
This might be short notice but a quick reminder that the Elks Bingo will be at the Rumsey Hall this evening, December 5 starting at 7:00 p.m. This is such a good organization to support and a fun way to do it. If you can’t make it tonight, they will be repeating their bingo fun in Big Valley next Wednesday, December 12, starting again at 7:00 p.m. The Big Valley ladies club which has Rumsey members will be serving snacks and pop at each event.
The Rumsey Ag Society has decided to host a New Year’s Eve Party this year at the Hall. It will be on December 31 with doors opening at 8:30 p.m. and music to start at 9:00 p.m. Come in and visit with your neighbours.
Linda Helmer stopped in with news from the St. Mary’s Lodge birthday club. They held their birthday party on November 19 with Mary Newton hosting the event. There were quite a few birthdays to celebrate this month; in extended care there were Martha Kruger, George Fabian, Eva Young, Jean Sarasin, Melvin Lindeman and Marth Doerksen. In the Lodge, Roy McNeil was the only celebrant. The next party will be held on December 17 with Linda Helmer hosting. Keep in mind that if you ever want to join in with this fun club, it doesn’t take much of your time but sure leaves you with a warm feeling in your heart for bringing a little sunshine to the seniors.
Have a great week, everyone.
