Rock­y­ford Li­brary is ex­cited to be par­tic­i­pat­ing in Christ­mas Com­mo­tion this year. We have a spe­cial guest, Calum Lykan, a tra­di­tional Scot­tish sto­ry­teller. He will be at the li­brary from 1:30 un­til 4:30 on Satur­day, De­cem­ber 8.

A new pol­icy re­gard­ing un­ac­com­pa­nied mi­nors vis­it­ing the li­brary comes into ef­fect, Jan­uary 8, 2019. Chil­dren un­der the age of ten will have to be ac­com­pa­nied by a care­giver at least twelve years of age. Chil­dren aged 10+ are wel­come to visit the li­brary with­out care­giver su­per­vi­sion.

Don’t for­get to buy your raf­fle ticket from the li­brary for a chance to win a Kobo Aura One e-reader, stor­age case AND a $25 gift cer­tifi­cate. Only 330 tick­ets are be­ing sold. This is a great gift idea for your­self and some­one you know who loves to read. The win­ning ticket will be drawn at Christ­mas Com­mo­tion.

The books nom­i­nated for the Young Reader’s Choice Award for 2019 will all be avail­able for one month, be­gin­ning De­cem­ber 4, at the Rock­y­ford Li­brary for bor­row­ing. The award of­fers three an­nual awards for books se­lected by school­child­ren re­sid­ing in Alaska, Al­berta, Bri­tish Columbia, Idaho, Mon­tana, and Wash­ing­ton. Any­one in Grades 4 through 12 who has read (or has heard read) at least one of the ti­tles from the list may vote for their choice. For more in­for­ma­tion, drop in and visit the li­brary (open Tues­days, noon to 6; Wed­nes­days/Thurs­days, 2 to 8).
