Hus­sar Ag So­ci­ety Stag Auc­tion was held on Fri­day, No­vem­ber 16. Just over $52,000 was raised to help run the arena for an­other sea­son! An­nual op­er­at­ing costs run around $190,000 so the board would like to send a large thanks to all donors and buy­ers for their sup­port. Thank you to the Hus­sar Skat­ing Club for tak­ing on the sup­per plan­ning, and all the vol­un­teers in the kitchen. Thanks to the Chi­nook Credit Union for the pho­to­copy­ing of the pro­grams and the Hus­sar Lions for their bar ser­vice!

Don Fraser cel­e­brated his 80th birth­day with many fam­ily and friends at the Sun­down­ers Cen­tre on Sun­day No­vem­ber 25. Best wishes for many more healthy happy birth­days Don!

Barb Slemko, CoreyAnn San­dum, Kristin Fandry & Carey Taubert en­joyed a few days in Napa Val­ley, Cal­i­for­nia tak­ing in a Cho­co­late pair­ing at Artesa Win­ery, a gourmet walk­ing tour, the Wine Train tour and some shop­ping. They stayed at the River Ter­race Inn. The va­ri­ety of good wines were de­li­cious…. let’s just say a wine suit­case was pur­chased to come home!

The Hus­sar Curl­ing Club held their an­nual Turkey Curl on Fri­day No­vem­ber 30. There was a ter­rific turnout and 105 tur­keys were won. The curl­ing club ap­pre­ci­ates the sup­port ev­ery year. For those of you who have not re­ceived your tur­keys yet, they will be avail­able on the De­cem­ber 14 week­end and the ex­ec­u­tive will be con­tact­ing you for pickup.

Light Up the Night was a beau­ti­ful evening on Satur­day De­cem­ber 1. The Hus­sar spe­cial events com­mit­tee be­gan the af­ter­noon with two teams of horses pulling wag­ons for hay rides and Christ­mas car­ols and at 6 p.m. the vil­lage do­nated a free hog dog sup­per. Thank you to the Hus­sar 4-H club for serv­ing the sup­per. The Hus­sar Fire Depart­ment es­corted Santa to the event and Santa an­nounced the light­ing of the camp­ground at 6 p.m. Santa lis­tened to many chil­dren’s wish lists (and some adults too). The com­mu­nity would like to thank Lela Hiebert for or­ga­niz­ing this won­der­ful evening. Spe­cial thanks to the El­son McDougald fam­ily for bring­ing their team of horses for the crowd to en­joy. The lights will be on ev­ery night un­til Jan­uary 1. Pro­ceeds from this evening were do­nated to the Emma Arm- strong Me­mo­rial Fund.

Kris­ten and Peter An­der­son at­tended the Model T Christ­mas party in Cal­gary on De­cem­ber 1. They en­joyed a nice meal and evening of so­cial­iz­ing Mrs. Claus and Elfie sur­prised the group and passed out Christ­mas gifts in Santa’s ab­sence.

The trip kids fundraiser group were sell­ing me­mo­rial lu­mi­nar­ies at Light Up the Night and this group would like to thank every­one for their sup­port as the whole first row of the camp­ground was lined in lu­mi­nar­ies. They also do­nated half of their pro­ceeds to the Emma Arm­strong Me­mo­rial Fund.

Marie and Nicky Faye spent a week in Hous­ton tour­ing the area and vis­it­ing with Marie’s brother and sis­ter in law Garry and Linda Kaiser.

Christ­mas Ham­per dona­tions can be dropped off at Chi­nook Fi­nan­cial un­til De­cem­ber 15.
