Greetings & Salutations! Here’s what’s new this week in the Standard Community…

Happy New Year! From our home to yours, we wish you peace and joy in 2019 and always!

Standard Store Update… The Broadway Group is pleased to announce that Ed and Cathy Christensen are the new Operators of the Standard Store! Watch for “Christensen Grocery” to develop in the next few months. Ed and Cathy are local community members who are very involved in our community and are a perfect fit for our store and to get the “hub of our community” back in operation. Ed and Cathy are willing to learn the shopping needs of our community as we all partner with them to make the store a successful business and essential part of our community. We are delighted that Ed and Cathy have stepped forward to make this commitment and wish them all the best with Christensen Grocery. Remember – shop local!

Did you know… Over 1,000,000 Euros are thrown into the Trevi fountain every year. The money is used to subsidize a supermarket for the needy. Peanut butter in a plastic jar at the supermarket usually has a sell-by date of about 18 months after it hits the shelf. Past this date, if it’s unopened it’s still perfectly good. Opened, peanut butter will slowly develop off-flavors of rancid nuts over the next five or so years. Wild bananas have seeds, and the ones we commonly find in supermarkets are sterile clones of a mutant banana plant found in 1836.

Quote of the week… “Scatter Joy!” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
