A vis­i­tor to the Drumheller Institutio­n was given a six months con­di­tional sen­tence or­der af­ter plead­ing guilty to bring­ing con­tra­band into the Drumheller. Institutio­n.

Kait­lyn Caron ap­peared in pro­vin­cial court in Drumheller on Fri­day, April 12 where she pleaded guilty.

The court heard how on Novem­ber 15, 2018, she was a vis­i­tor at the Drumheller Institutio­n and was ob­served pass­ing an item to her fi­ancé dur­ing the visit. Cor­rec­tions of­fi­cers dis­cov­ered 50 nico­tine patches with an in­sti­tu­tional value of $5,000.

The crown and de­fense agreed on a sen­tence of six months un­der a con­di­tional sen­tence or­der. The first three months she is to be placed un­der house arrest, and the end half she is to abide by a cur­few.
